How will my cat adjust to the automatic litter box?
Most cats are naturally curious. For first-time users, place Luma next to your cat’s current litter box and use treats or toys to encourage exploration. Use their usual litter and add a small amount of used litter for familiarity. For the first few days, turn off automatic cleaning and set the fan to low to create a calm, comfortable environment.

How does Luma keep my cat safe?
Luma only starts cleaning once its camera, infrared, and weight sensors confirm your cat has left the litter box. If a cat approaches while it’s rotating, Luma immediately pauses to keep them safe.

Is Luma easy to clean and maintain?
Yes, we designed Luma to be easy to clean and maintain. You can remove the litter compartment for cleaning in just 2 steps, and all internal parts can be quickly removed for a thorough wash. No, you can start using the Luma Smart Litter Box right away without a subscription. Without a subscription, you’ll have access to a complete log of your cat’s litter box visits, the exact time and duration of each visit, and immediate alerts for important changes, such as a full 24 hours without activity. Luma is designed for multi-cat homes, can recognize up to 10 cats, and works best for cats between 2.2 and 22 lbs. For cats less than 6 months old, under 2.2 lb (1 kg), or pregnant or nursing, turn off auto clean and use Luma’s cleaning button instead. Small, senior, or mobility-impaired cats might prefer to use the included step for easier entry and exit.
